I wont be clapping him. I clapped him enough when he played for us. I appreciate what he did for us but he doesn't play for us anymore, so he is irrelevant to me now.

Needless to say, I also won't be booing him, like some fucktards will be doing obviously.

Respectful applause and then a big cheer when someone like Bowen wipes him out with a slide tackle in the first minute.

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
Was brilliant for us and the best player to wear our shirt for many a year, so am sure he'll get a very deserved clap in the league game.

He won't be anywhere near the team in the cup game, so wouldn't worry about that.

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
It would be pathetic to do anything other than clap the player who captained us to our first European trophy in decades. Signed for nothing, sold for more than enough money to replace him. Maximum effort in every game, never threw his toys out the pram. Zero disloyalty leaving for a champions league club who will be top end of the Premier League for the foreseeable. He owes us nothing.

I'll do what I do when all opposition players are announced, totally ignore, couldn't care less. Would love to beat them just to see that lego haired cunt of a manager of theirs bleat afterwards how it was all unfair on whatever decision he felt didn't go their way.

Rice is irrelevant to us now, clap him if you feel he warrants it, but let's not boo him, we're better than that.

I'll do neither, Silence is Golden

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
Yup, and it just screams 'I'm upset you left and I'm not over it' like a jilted lover, and it makes us look small time to everyone else. And why give them any extra ammo for the game?

Polite applause (or nothing at all) just says 'yeah you left but we're not bothered about it', (which actually we aren't) but after that he's just another opposition player.

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
Psychologists would say booing him is making it about you? How could he leave my club, the one I have supported and will always support like my dad and grandad etc. I understand that emotion but it’s a 10 year career and he ( Rice ) has decided he has a better chance of top honours in the game over there. Imo it’s a bigger gamble than he perhaps thought since Arsenal had only just made the top 4 again.

If he wanted to have a better guarantee of trophies then City or Madrid would have been a better choice Imo and not a London rival but time will tell.

He gave 100% for us and acted ( literally ) tge right way with his exit and comments. handoed it in a professional way so I wish him no harm and polite applause seems ok Imo

I will give him a good reception as he deserves it gave us great service and helped us win our first trophy in a generation.
But as soon as that whistle goes he’s fucking dead to me and if Alvarez breaks him in half in the first minute I’ll celebrate like I did in Prague in the last minute

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
Rice is one of the few ex players that deserves a clap, just makes us look classless booing him and that’s exactly what the gooners would love to hear as well. Pretty much spent his entire life with us and stuck £105 million in our bank as a Thankyou, which we’ve actually spent well. At this moment in time, if I had to choose between having rice back or keeping JWP and Kudus, I’d honestly go with the latter.

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
Our academy coaches saw something in a 14 year old that the mighty CFC Cobham set failed to recognise… it’s like finding a 25 carat diamond or the biggest gold nugget.

Takes the positives .. the boy did a job for us so embrace it, appreciate it and move on

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
I'm going to give him a little clap, nothing fancy and I feel as though I saw a young kid grow up into an incredible player, one of the very best we've bought through, and our academy is pretty famous.

Because of the role he plays he seemed to go almost unnoticed by the average SKY armchair fan even when he was playing for England.

None of this was helped by idiot pundits who know the top five or six teams but struggle to even remember the names of players in the teams below. Fucking hell, they've got ONE job and can't do it properly.

The last season he was here apparently cost him ten million and I feel he's worth a little cricket clap from me. In fact it was a bit ironic that our bad start to last season was partly down to him struggling with the captaincy with Noble sunning himself in Cyprus on a well-deserved rest.

I like him, I always have, the 'I'm a north Londoner now' shtick grates a bit but so does virtually everything about the modern footballer generally and crucially I don't think we've missed him.

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
Got to agree with Always, why so much bitterness?

Lets face it, a 24 year old with 40+ England caps wants more than West Ham can offer. Players dont want to show their grandkids their bank statement, they want to show them the medals and he has far more chance of doing that by joining one of the 'big' clubs.
Not sure why anyone would begrudge his decision to enhance his chances if sucsess unless of course you think that West Ham will somehow join the 'big hitters' of the game.

Re: Please let's not fucking clap Rice.
What is wrong with you Pentonville. Why so bitter? Why so childish? I’ll clap whoever i fucking want to clap and I’ll be politely applauding a decent young man who’s simply moved on. He was great for us and has helped us rebuild our midfield by leaving. Fucking grow up son.
